How we collect, use and protect the information you share with TrenchWorks.
Last updated: September 2026
Information We Collect
When you submit our contact form, we collect the information you choose to provide: your name, company, email address, phone number, industry, enquiry type, and the details of your message. If you're requesting a quote, we also collect your approximate location and the carrier machine you plan to use.
If you use the chat assistant on our website and ask to be contacted, we collect the details you provide in that lead form: your name, email and phone number, and optionally your company, location, project timeframe, and details about your trenching requirements.
We don't collect any information beyond what you choose to share with us through these forms or the chat assistant, and we don't require you to create an account to use our website.
How We Use It
We use the information you submit to respond to your enquiry — whether that's preparing a quote or handling a parts request. We don't use it to send marketing communications you haven't asked for, and we don't sell it to anyone.
If you chat with our virtual equipment advisor, the messages you type are used to generate a helpful response and to work out whether to offer you our lead-capture form. Please avoid entering sensitive personal information (such as financial, health, or government ID details) into the chat.
Third-Party Service Providers
We use a small number of third-party services to run this website and handle enquiries:
- Web3Forms delivers our contact form and chat lead-capture submissions directly to our inbox. See Web3Forms' privacy policy for details of how they handle data.
- Google powers our chat assistant using its Gemini AI models — messages you send in the chat are transmitted to Google for processing in order to generate a reply. Where enabled, we may also use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website; this can involve cookies or similar technologies placed by Google. See Google's privacy policy and the Gemini API terms for details of how Google handles data.
- YouTube is used to embed product and testimonial videos. If you choose to play a video, YouTube (Google) may collect information in accordance with its own privacy policy.
Cookies
Our website does not itself set cookies to track you. Where Google Analytics is enabled, or where you play an embedded YouTube video, those third parties may set their own cookies as described in their respective privacy policies linked above.
Overseas Disclosure
Web3Forms and Google are based overseas, and information you submit to us may be sent to and processed on servers located outside New Zealand as part of using these services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies linked above for further information on how each provider handles information overseas.
How Long We Keep It
We retain enquiry and lead details for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you and to maintain a record of our business communications.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of information sent to us or to our third-party service providers.
Your Rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 (New Zealand), you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to request that it be corrected. To make a request, to ask a question about this policy, or if you have a privacy concern, contact us at Harkishan@trenchworks.co.nz. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to raise a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our website or practices. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised.
